Magic With Math

Image
“Mathematics may be defined as the subject in which we never know what we are talking about, nor whether what we are saying is true.” - Bertrand Russell Mathematics is really a very interesting subject. Many fears from it, but whenever you get the logic behind it, you simply love it. Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects. I have found some very interesting patterns, which are very interesting and not less than any magic. I would like to share it with all of you – 1 * 8 + 1 = 9 12 * 8 + 2 = 98 123 * 8 + 3 = 987 1234 * 8 + 4 = 9876 12345 * 8 + 5 = 98765 123456 * 8 + 6 = 987654 1234567 * 8 + 7 = 9876543 12345678 * 8 + 8 = 98765432 123456789 * 8 + 9 = 987654321 1 * 9 + 2 = 11 12 * 9 + 3 = 111 123 * 9 + 4 = 1111 1234 * 9 + 5 = 11111 12345 * 9 + 6 = 111111 123456 * 9 + 7 = 1111111 1234567 * 9 + 8 = 11111111 12345678 * 9 + 9 = 111111111 123456789 * 9 + 10 = 1111111111 9 * 9 + 7 = 88 98 * 9 + 6 = 888 987 * 9 + 5 = 8888 9876 * 9 + 4 = 88888 98765 * 9 + 3 = 888888 987654 * 9 + 2 = 8888888 9...

Investment Planning

Image
Many of my blog readers have asked me about the investments, how should they allocate or invest their money? I am still a student and learning all these but I am trying my level best to answer this question. As I always say that investments and savings are very essential and everyone should practice it. Here the main question is “How much to invest/save and where to invest/save?” In my opinion there are 3 types of person in this world- Spend more than they earn Spend all their income and save if there is any balance . Save first then spend the rest                   Type 1 and type 2 belong to unsystematic type of people and most of the time only live by today freely. These types of people should set up a systematic saving program no matter how small the amount might be. Start from a very lit...

Tips to teach kids about savings and investements

Image
Being a finance management student I always emphasis on saving and investment for th e future. Every body should learn how to save and invest money in a profitable way. I am learning it now but I think I would have learned it in my childhood. Now I am a strong believer that every child should know about saving and every parent should teach saving techniques to their child. If children will know the benefits of saving then they will start it in their early ages, which will be a great help in the future time. In my opinion the preteen years are a golden time to teach kids about saving for the future. They already know the value of money, having learned basic money concepts in school.                Following are some tips on how to teach kids about savings and investments – Explain to them that there are three things they can do ...

Please educate the senior citizens

Image
Recently a newspaper reported that a senior citizen sold his flat and deposited Rs27 lakh in a bank account held jointly by him and his son. Within a week, the son had withdrawn the entire amount without the father’s knowledge. When the father came to know about the withdrawal he was completely broken. This is not a single case. Now-a-days it has become a trend. Many a time we can get these types of news in the newspaper or from some other media. Some time it happenss with old father, sometime with old mother and sometime with any other old member of family. Why it happens? It is a big question. But just try to get the answer. There can be many reasons but I think lack of education and experience is the biggest reason behind it. A great percentage of our senior citizen population is illiterate. They can’t read the bank forms and other important documents. So it is very easy to get cheated by someone who is very close and know the processes. I think in the present time society need to ...

The Touchstone

Image
Some times ago I was reading a story, which I am sharing here with all of you. After you read this story count how many times could this have happened to you and if you have altered those aspects of your life that made you miss the opportunity. Here is the story - The Touchstone When the great library of Alexandria burned, the story goes, one book was saved. But it was not a valuable book; and so a poor man, who could read a little, bought it for a few coppers. The book wasn't very interesting, but between its pages there was something very interesting indeed. It was a thin strip of vellum on which was written the secret of the "Touchstone"! The Touchstone was a small pebble that could turn any common metal into pure gold. The writing explained that it was lying among thousands and thousands of other pebbles that looked exactly like it. But the secret was this: The real stone would feel warm, while ordinary pebbles are cold. So the man sold his few belongings, bought some...

Need to reform education system

Image
Some days ago I was chatting with my friend who lives in USA. We were discussing on the education system. I got to know lots of things about the US education system. When I compared the US education system with our Indian education system, then I realized that there are huge deficiencies in our education system.                   Let me share the US education system with all of you, which I got to know fro m my friend. In the US, the core curriculum consist of the English language and literature, one foreign language, mathematics, one social science subject and one elective subject in a year. They have wide options for choosing the elective subject ranging from world history to accountancy to computer programming. The US education system more emphasis on project works where stud...

Ideas for 21st. century leader

Image
I was just thinking about our 21st. century. Being a future manager some questions pop-up in my mind - that what would be my job in the future? What should be the characteristics of a 21st. century leader? What kind of job a leader will have to perform? Etc. I’m trying to get the answer of these questions. So now let me share what I got from my research and analysis. To me leadership is all about creating a vision, vision of the future that you want to implement. Leadership is also about excite the people, motivate them, create a dream and finally ability to put all it together. We have seen the different kind of leaders’ like- Political leader, Social leader, Business leader etc. The 21st. century leader is going to be very different from the 20th.century. T he leaders of 20th. Century used to focus on command and control, but leader of the 21st. century will have to focus mainly on the collaboration, communication, co-operation, co-ordination. Because of the introduction of the inter...

Perfection

Image
Let me start with a joke- A person went to a mechanic with his problematic car and he requested its trouble-shooting. The mechanic, after hearing the problem from the owner, thought for a moment, took a hammer and applied a soft stroke on the engine head of the car. On sensing a change in engine noise, the mechanic told the owner that the problem is rectified. Then he asked for a service charge of $10 from the owner. The owner was surprised on hearing the charge of $10 for a hammer stroke and expressed his resentment. The mechanic replied calmly, "Sir, I have not charged anything for the hammer stroke but charged for understanding where to strike, and behind this understanding is my expertise of 20 years". The Purpose of narrating the joke is that knowing the solution is always more important than its implementation and achievement of perfection depends on this knowledge. Experts use their life-long experiences to know a perfect solution for a problem, but that is not always...

Precautions for recruiting new employee

Image
I am in Rajasthan for my Summer Internship Program. Here I have observed that almost every Small business enterprises have large turnout of their employees because most of the persons keep on trying to get employed by larger organizations for obvious benefits. In my company also the turnout rate of employees is high, so some days ego I was recruiting so me new employees for company. It is very difficult to understand the people and their behavior but it is also an essential thing in order to get effective results. Being in a hurry and fed up with large employee turnout, managers of small enterprises take-in as an employee whosoever comes their way without much of questioning, but afterward this proves very costly to the enterprise. I am sharing some of precautions which management should take care while recruiting a new employee. Take in matured persons: Matured persons are found to be more stable with their employers than younger generations. Such persons are, of c...

Creativity in Education

Image
Let me start with a real life incident. Teachers in a school found a seven-year-old boy quite odd. Though he was well mannered and never got into fights, his answers were often seen as “different”. So the teachers tried their best to “educate” him. Teacher: What does the cow give us? Boy: The cow gives us cow dung. Teacher: That’s not a good answer. You should say “the cow gives us milk”. Boy: But why, Miss? Does the cow not give us dung? Teacher: Stop acting over-smart! Why can’t you be like a normal child? I will send a note to your parents! You are the fellow who drew an amoeba in art class, right? Boy: Yes, Miss. We were asked to draw an animal. I picked an amoeba that my big sister told me about! You see, I liked it because it has no fixed shape! And it moves about using pretend feet… Teacher: Enough! Why do I get these oddballs in my class!? ...

Urban Vs. Rural India

Image
Some year’s ego I was working with a project, in which I have visited different – different rural and urban places including the places of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. I have observed that there are huge differences between the urban and rural places and people. In the present time I am in Rajasthan, and here also I am observing the same differences. There are various types of differences like – living differences, work differences, mentality differences, wages differences, work hours differences, economical differences etc. These differences dividing the India into two distinct parts, one is rural India and other is urban India. These differences play an essential role in the development of these places. While my project I was keep observing and taking important notes of all the important things. Let me share some of my observation with all of you. Living: -...

Green Industry

Image
“Growth” is the topic of the moment. Everyone talks about it, everyone strives toward it. Yes, growth is essential for every country and for any economy. If we speak of a “global economy” then our industry-led growth has been the engine of it. All developed nations have harnessed industry as the main driver of their prosperity and developing nations aspire to it. But as the world is changing very rapidly so now it is apparent that this trend must also change. Now we need another kind of industry and another kind of growth. It would appear that the world of the future will be driven by “Green Industry”. What is Green industry?                     “Green industry” is an environmentally friendly industry. Green industry is producing environmentall...

Need of investment on Human Capital

Image
India is a developing country and it also has a large population. But like ev ery coin has two aspects, India also has merits and demerits of it. The huge population of the country can develop the country or can collapse the country also. We have seen that the thinking of human being defines the future of the country. In the earlier time the huge populations were the liability, but now it is an asset in India. Earlier the people used to see entrepreneurs with the bad eyes, but now entrepreneurs are the creator and captain of the country.                       If I talk about India then India has an abundance of human capital and is among the countries with the highest density of population. This abundant populat...

Importance of fulfilling the promise

Image
I was thinking since a long time, that what can be very important thing or quality which can make a business successful? What can be that thing that can make a business successful or failure? Is it quality of product, services provided by company, low price, financial position of company etc. or it is any other thing? After a lot of brain storming I came to know that in any business or in personal life fulfilling the commitment is very essential. Here are some of the examples – Toyota:- We all know that Toyota is a big name. Toyota is known for h is quality. Quality is Toyota’s promise. Now what happened with Toyota? There is some acceleration and break problem in Toyota’s model. Toyota is also not considering the complains of his customers. So here Toyota is unable to fulfill his promise. Barack Obama :- Mr. Barack Obama has completed more than one year as a president of America but Mr. Obama is unable to fulfill the promises which he had made during the election campaign. He promis...

Learning from my old Business

I always love to talk about my old business, which I have started in my college days. I had started “Mushroom Making”. It was really a tough job but I was making money through it so I was in love of growing it. Mushroom was very new in my hometown and only few knew about it. Initially I had to face a lot of problems to find and make my customers, but advertisement and with the help of customer it became easy to me. It was a plus point to me that I was the only player in this field, so the whole market was mine. It was continue for almost 2 years, it was really a profitable business, but due to some reason I had to stop my business. Now I am regretting for doing that. I have learnt a lot from my business, and now I would like to share some of my learning here with you. Following are the some of my learning – 1- It is very essential to live with your dream and realize what you want to achieve. Whatever you want to do accept it, believe it, and then try hard to make it possible and succes...

New option for the market

Yes we are growing. We are living in the developing country. Our businesses are also growing. Companies are capturing all the urban areas, and they are almost successful in it. But if companies want to improve their business then they will need new market and new customer. In the urban areas, which are already captured by many companies, it is very difficult to get a new customer. Then what will be the new option for the business to grow constantly. Yesterday I was watching a movie “Mahatma Gandhi”. In this movie Mahatma Gandhi was telling a man that “India leaves in villages.” So in my view villages and rural market will be new areas for business. India has traditionally been an agrarian economy. The burgeoning rural class holds over 70% of the Indian population is the most lucrative segment to take the mantle of growth. The lower class and rural population can create a new growth market and can increase the business level. ...

New jobs for CEOs in the year 2010

The challenges for a CEO are never easy in good years. The challenges will be sharper as CEOs try to guide their firms out of the 2009 economic situation. CEOs need to focus on three areas for a start. In my view the 3 new roles for the CEOs in year 2010 will be following – 1- Chief Engagement Officer 2- Chief Education Officer 3- Chief Ecosystem Officer The year 2009 has shaken the confidence of employee in most firms. Managers in India were in a Camelot phase till 2009. The behavior of the successful people and firms are arrogance, greed, and complacency. Fear, helplessness and hope are the emotions of a tough situation. In 2010, employee choice will be shaped by emotion. The year 2009 saw a lower engagement in most firms as CEOs and their immediate teams were struggling to calm down the situation. CEOs need to start engaging quickly; else 2010 will be the same as 2009. The engagement should aim for creati...
